We welcome you to a two-day workshop on the highly effective therapeutic approach called Coherence Therapy, developed by Bruce Ecker and Laurel Hulley.  Coherence Therapy makes use of the brain's transformational process known as memory reconsolidation, a mechanism that enables profound and lasting change in psychotherapy.

About Coherence Therapy

Coherence therapy utilizes the natural mechanism of memory reconsolidation to release blockages in the emotional brain and to achieve lasting change of emotional patterns. In this workshop, you will learn techniques to access your clients' deep, unconscious constructs of reality and help them bring about profound changes in their lives.

Coherence therapy is an integrative, experiential approach. It is based on the principles of constructivism and the properties of memory reconsolidation, a universal mechanism of transformative change in psychotherapy. The foundation of coherence therapy is the long-established concept of symptom coherence with unconscious, adaptive constructions of reality that necessitate the presence of symptoms. This means that symptoms such as depression, anxiety, or procrastination usually have adaptive functions that serve our survival, even if they simultaneously cause suffering.

The two American psychotherapists (Ecker and Hulley) observed that the greatest and most lasting changes occur in people who discover the meaning of their symptoms through direct experience and then compare these meanings with experiences—discovered or generated in therapy—that contradict them. This process leads to the collaborative reconstruction of emotional schemas, causing the symptom to lose its reason for existing and freeing the clients from it.
